Blogging and Squidoo
Many people blog. Many people Squidoo. Combining the two is just a smart move all around.
Who doesn’t want more publicity for their blog? While most of my posts here are focused around making money from Squidoo itself, the fact is that many people are using the site to help give them relevant and useful backlinks that Google won’t hate on. With the assorted updates that Google is doing, that’s a very good thing.
How do you use Squidoo to promote a blog? It’s really easy.
1. Write a blog post.
2. Take the same theme as the post and write a Squidoo on it. DO NOT REUSE THE SAME CONTENT!
For example, if you write a blog post on how to get kids to brush their teeth, you would create a Squidoo lens with two text modules, an amazon spotlight and a big arrow link, plus a guestbook and a poll module. Then you would write an intro about how difficult it can be to get kids to brush their teeth. The first text module would be on how to get kids to brush their teeth, perhaps with a numbered list of ideas, but not all your ideas, just enough to whet their appetite! Next, the big arrow link pointing to your blog post on how to do this (get more info here!) easier and better.
The next text module would be something like common fears kids have of brushing their teeth or common complaints and how to resolve them. This could cover just a couple of reason. Make sure you have awesome photos for every module! Then make a poll about whether people find it hard to get kids to brush their teeth and finally, ask a question so they will want to sign your guestbook. Done. You could also add a link to your blog in general in the text modules.
Of course, being active on Squidoo helps drive traffic to your lens and therefore to your blog, but it isn’t strictly necessary. If you have done a good quality lens, it will likely rise on its own. Also, I would consider adding an RSS module at the end of your lens so people can see if there are other topics on your blog that they might want to check out.
